I Finally Got It!

Thats right!  I finally got the new Xbox 360 Slim!  It is actually my first Xbox (I have been playing on my boyfriend's for a while now) so I am so stoked about having it!

I actually got it yesterday, but I played it all day so I could not really make a post about it ;).  I used to be more of a PC gamer, but since my PC is half crashed, I have been mooching on my boyfriend's Xbox... and became completely obsessed with it.

Anyways, I am so happy with it!  So much space on the harddrive, even the controller is a little different than the regular black Elite ones.  The headset is also completely black (instead of gray and black) and comes with a rather pointless clip.

Before getting the Xbox, I stopped by Gamestop for their super saver sale (go figure, since I work at Best Buy ><) and got a few old games to play.

For anyone who is interested, this is my current game collection now!
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Final Fantasy XIII (I think that's the right one... whatever the newest one is.)
Bioshock 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Lost Odyssey (lots of fun for an older one!)
Gears of War
Sega Superstars Tennis
Forza 2
Limbo
Deathspank

So considering that is rather measly... help me out!  What game should I buy next?

Gaming Confessions

Most girls have memories that consist of playing with Barbies, jumping rope, dress up etc. and doing generic “girly” things as a child. I don’t have these memories…instead, mine are of killing things in various first person shooters on the computer.

I’ve been playing video games for quite a long time. I’m not really sure just exactly how I got started, but I probably wandered into the room while my dad was playing Doom and immediately got interested. It most likely started with an innocent “whatcha doing?” and then it all began from there. Once I started, it was hard to stop. I was officially a gamer. Starting with Doom I moved onto Castle Wolfenstein and Navy Seals on the Game Boy. And after that I moved onto the console games.

3G Summit Interview: Amanda Dittami

My previous post had an interview with Mindy Faber from the 3G Summit where I explained what the 3G Summit is, but I'll give it a little overview again!  Basically, Columbia College in Illinois is holding the 3G Summit where they will be pulling fifty urban girls from area schools and hold workshops and have speakers about women in the gaming industry.  They hope to introduce and build interest in the industry, and the students will even be making their own game prototype.  I did an interview with Amanda Dittami who is the student who put the 3G Summit into action!  She hopes to encourage these girls to take advantage of an amazing job and industry to be in!  Continue reading for the interview:

The 3G Summit: Interview With Mindy Faber

Recently, my friend at Set On Stun told me about the 3G Summit.  I took a look at their site, and not only was I interested, I was impressed.  The 3G Summit, in short, is being held at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois.  The four day event is going to pull fifty urban girls from area schools and give them an introduction to the video game industry with speakers and workshops, and they will even be making their own game prototype (no fair!).

I did an interview with Mindy Faber, one of the event planners who have helped make this event a reality:

3D Video Gaming: The End of Motion Sickness

I threw on my 3D glasses, climbed into the sleigh, and held on to my boyfriend's hand.  I felt the *click* as the sleigh released the break, and we began to inch forward.  Suddenly, we were in a room full of reanimated knights and dodging thrown knives, the sleigh spinning.  Then just as we leave the scene, King Ludwig is sitting on top of the sleigh in front of me, warning me to leave this place.  His ghost mother, who has been leading the way, fights him off, and we have spun off again to another scene.  As we finish climb off the sleigh and leave DarKastle into the cheeriness that is Busch Gardens, I think, could this be how 3D gaming will be?

A Lego piece of magic: Lego Harry Potter years 1-4 review

This new Lego take on Harry Potter makes game play fun and simple. You will play has Harry, Ron, and Hermione along with a handful of other characters from the book that you will unlock in the game. Harry's goal is to save the wizarding world from the evil Lord Voldemort. So you will attend classes at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry to learn new spells and use them along your journey. As the title suggests in Lego Harry Potter years 1-4 you will be able to play all 4 years in one game which is more bang for your buck, but the downside to this is it seems to drag on. At least to me it drags on, and I think it does for two reasons. The first reason is because it's lego and your just doing the same thing over again so it gets a little bit repetitive. The second reason is that in the game you're pretty much re-playing the scenes from the movie.

My Game Secrets (Kinda)

You see, it was about three years ago, that finally I came out.  It was a really difficult decision, but my significant other encouraged me to really start showing who I was.  My coming out process was slow, whenever I was indulging my cravings, I would slam my laptop shut whenever my parents or friends would walk by.  I struggled through my addiction, until I finally admitted to everyone: I am a gamer girl.

Casual Gaming and Nintendo is Hardcore

Have you ever heard anybody say that Nintendo is for kids and casual gamers? At first I never did, but after I got deeper into video games and the communities centered around them, that's all I heard when I would even mention Nintendo. It really upsets me because I have been playing on Nintendo systems for ages. The characters are unforgettable, (we all know who Mario is.) and the games are good too.
